This role is responsible for supervising NICU Informatics Specialists who extract data for collection in the NICU clinical database system. The information is used for clinical quality improvement, hospital reporting, billing, and contracting. The NICU Informatics Specialist reviews all progress notes and clinical records for NICU patients and ensures that diagnoses, procedures, respiratory support, medications, history, and demographic information are accurately captured in the clinical database as per the physicians' data protocols and provides quality assurance by alerting physicians/NNPs to new information or discrepancies in information.
The NICU Informatics Supervisor
Monitors workload of NICU Informatics Specialist, tracks completion of work, conducts quality review of entries for accuracy and completeness.
Develops and provides oversight of orientation program for new NICU Informatics specialists along with NICU Informatics Director.
Provides oversight for maintenance of accurate FNA clinical database census and records by performing daily initial set up of patients in the FNA clinical database, and assigning patients to NICU Informatics Specialists.
Works with the NICU Informatics Director on special projects with the goal of improving workflow/reporting efficiency and maintaining integrity of data extraction/entry protocols.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and counsel others; supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Ability to independently analyze, draw conclusions, communicate, and problem solve in a detailed manner.
Able to work flexible hours. Some weekend/holiday hours are required.
5 years experience as a NICU nurse in a Level III/IV NICU required; Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certificate preferred.
Database management experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and EMR required.
